The awards were organised by Construction News to recognise the critical role played by specialist contractors of all sizes and types on this country's construction projects.

The awards are supported by both the National Specialist Contractors' Council and the Specialist Engineering Contractors' Group.

The fiercely contested award for Asbestos Removal was presented to Silverdell (UK) Limited by Terry Jago, Chief Executive of the Asbestos Removal Contractors Association, ARCA. Competition in each category was intense.

Nearly 600 construction professionals from across the industry gathered to celebrate the awards at the London Park Lane Hilton Hotel on the 11th May 2006. The judges commented:

“This company demonstrated real commitment in all areas and gave an especially good account of its health and safety achievement.” They added “impressive growth speaks for itself – it’s a good company”
