Winners Again! Silverdell wins Contractor of the Year |

Silverdell (UK) Limited is proud to announce that they have won Contract Journal’s Construction Industry Award for the category of SME Contractor of the Year.
Now in its twelfth year, the prestigious awards organised by Contract Journal were held on 4th October to reward innovation and excellence to the best contractors in British construction.
Silverdell (UK) Limited were handed their award at the spectacular venue of London Grosvenor House Hotel, where an awards ceremony and dinner took place.
Ashley Griffiths, Silverdell (UK) Managing Director said;
“Winning this category reflects the all-round quality performance that Silverdell has achieved this year. This award is a testament to the importance we place on health and safety and training across the company. The response from our supply chain has been excellent”.
The category for SME Contractor of the Year was open to General Contractors that have fewer than 250 staff and a turnover of less than £50m in 2006. Judges wanted to see evidence of successful business performance throughout 2006, details of Health & Safety Performance throughout the year, how it is demonstrating respect for people and integrating with the supply chain and it’s clients; how environmental issues are being addressed, and details of workforce training throughout the year. The fiercely contested award for SME Contractor of the Year was sponsored by KPMG.
The judges said of Silverdell that “This specialist asbestos removal contractor saw turnover increase by 19% to £22.5m in 2006, as well as undertaking one of the largest single projects commissioned – a £6m contract on the Shell building. It also developed an academy for excellence to promote best practice by it’s employees and supply chain as well as embracing best environmental practice and acquiring new business. Clients say “the firm is highly competent with a high commitment to safety and are highly responsive to managing change where it is required” – another says “working with the firm is a pleasure”.
This is the second prestigious award that Silverdell has won in the past twelve months, in May they picked up, for the second year running the Specialist in Construction Award for Construction News (Asbestos Removal) Specialist Contractor of the Year.
